The Big Green Parenting Experiment

raising a healthy family in a toxic world

day 3: 30 days of thanks

on November 3, 2012

Home sweet home. (cue motley crüe)

Today I am thankful for shelter. Over the past week I have had all of the victims of hurricane Sandy in my thoughts. Sometimes it takes a tragedy for us to reflect on the simple things that we are so fortunate to have. My family and I are lucky to have the most basic needs: a roof, running water and clothing on our backs.
Having a child makes me even more thankful for our safe, warm shelter. Being able to provide this for her makes me feel so lucky, especially now when so many people are suffering without.
My thoughts are with those whose lives have been disrupted by this tragedy. Let us all be thankful for our own shelter. And say a prayer for those who aren’t as fortunate.

(Just a reminder that we can all help a little by texting ‘red cross’ to 90999 to make a $10 donation toward the relief effort. In these times, a little can go a long way.)

I didn’t know about the Red Cross text, thanks for sharing! Years ago a tornado ripped up neighborhoods all around us and 2 years ago a food swept many others away we have been so lucky….I can’t imagine what these people are going through!

I LOVE 30 Days of Thanks and I hope you don’t mind but I placed your link on my blog?

      Hi Dana!
I don’t mind at all! I checked out your post and some other 30 days posts that you have linked up. Thank you for bringing that together! I also love it. It really makes you think and appreciate all that you have to be thankful for. I’m looking forward to scoping out your blog a bit more, too.
Thanks for visiting and for taking the time to comment!
      Stay thankful! 🙂
