The Big Green Parenting Experiment

raising a healthy family in a toxic world

day 11: 30 days of thanks

on November 11, 2012

I am very thankful to have a reliable vehicle. I am thankful to be able to get my daughter anywhere she needs to go safely. Today is such a gorgeous day here in upstate New York (mid 50s!) and I gave my car a good cleaning. Admittedly, cleaning the car doesn’t make the ‘things I enjoy doing’ list. Especially now that I’m a mom. My car looks like an explosion. Every. Single. Day. Toys, puffs, clothing and shoes (both mine and hers), DMV paperwork, fun size candy wrappers thanks to my good friend, Halloween… I could go on but now I’m embarrassed.
Anyhow, back to the point. While cleaning my car on this lovely day, I realized how lucky I am to have a car to clean. We are fortunate to have two nice, safe, reliable vehicles. Not only that, but we’ve always been able to afford a new one when we need it. I’m pretty thankful for that. We are very lucky.
I’ll be even more thankful when they come out with a self cleaning model!

Q: can you name the item in the picture?

Man, I cracked up when I saw this in the car today. It’s always there, but I just look right past it, I guess. Schy will literally never know what this is. Crazy how things change. And my car is a 2006. I wonder what another 6 years will bring.
